This year the KL Open will be played from 4-8 September and squeezing in 9 rounds over 5 days is not easy but because it is held during Ramadhan (where Muslims fast all month) we will have the games played even earlier than normal!
For sure there is an upside in that evenings will be totally free and there will be a chance for our guests from overseas to enjoy, perhaps to even participate in, the daily festivities than begin with the breaking of fast daily.

The prize giving and closing ceremony will be held together with a blitz tournament on the morning of 9 September and will certainly be graced by Kuala Lumpur Chess Association President Dato' Edmund Santhara.
In effect too will be the now "standard" time control of 90 minutes plus a 30 second time increment from move one and of course we will be applying the zero tolerence rule for the start of each game as it is now in force.
